My First Strawberry (Don't Laugh)

I picked my first strawberry from the allotment yesterday.
Small and sweet even though you might need a microscope to see it!
Hopefully a few more on the way so I had better net them before the birds get them first!
I also picked the first of my broad beans. I read that you could steam them whole but I didn't like the taste. I shall let the rest grow on until the beans have matured.

  2. Hi Jacqui: I've been slow getting around after being gone for two weekends in a row. Everyone writes and posts so fast!! How sweet is it to grow and taste your own vegetables and fruit. I need some hamhocks or bacon in with stringbeans. Then they suit me just fine..Happy Picking..Judy

  8. Hello again my sweet friend! Thank you for your visit and lovely comment! I did not paint the sign, but purchased it a few years back on ebay from a friend that paints them. She does beautiful work and I have lots of her paintings in my cottage that I have purchased over the years. She paints on wood and thrift store finds. I just love that. Thank you for your kind wishes. I had a difficult day yesterday, but thankfully I am better today! I think I will keep the buttons on display, though if I found the right thing to add them to, I would. The lady that paints them resides here in Louisiana too. I purchased them a while back, and need to find the link to her shop to share. You are welcome dearest! I was happy to share the altered glove and hope you could see it close~up when you clicked on it. If you go to my flickr page, you can enlarge it and see more details. The little tag reads "Hands to work, Hearts to God." Yes, I remember those wooden hangers you purchased. It will be wonderful to use them and I look forward to seeing what you do! I used unbleached muslin and put batting in between the layers, sewed it and turned it right side out for the base. Then I placed the glove and lace and other vintage goodies until I got it how I liked it. My hubby suggested I take a photo, since I liked the placement, then I sewed each item on in layers by hand. I really enjoyed it and was pleased with the result. There are so many possibilities! For color, I could see you using some of that lovely fabric from the sweet thrifted dresses you purchased. I was very happy to mention your lovely blog. I love it and love being able to visit you! You and Becky are a blessing in my life and I am thankful to have such kind blog friends! You both inspire me so much! Oh, I am so glad you did not get stung on the nose whilst enjoying smelling the roses! You never know what will be hiding in all those petals! Thank you for your kind wishes sweetie. I will be sure to rest! I needed to hear that advice, thank you dear heart! I hope you have a lovely weekend too! I know Becky's birthday party will be wonderful!!! I am so excited for her. She is such a sweetheart and so talented and creative too. I know you are so proud of both your daughters and your son! You are a very good mum and have, and are, doing a wonderful job raising them!!! I am sorry to hear it is suppose to rain! The garden would be beautiful decorated for Becky and her friends, but I am sure you will decorate the house beautifully and she and her friends will have lots of fun! Hopefully the sun will come out as one of her birthday gifts! :D Have a lovely time dear friend, and please give Becky a birthday hug from me! Much love, Paula xo
