Beautyberry Bush

I've been admiring this purple berried shrub for a few weeks now when I walk my brother's dog. I took a photo and have just discovered it's called Callicarpa or Beautyberry. A very fitting name. I'll have to see if I can find space in my garden to grow one of these as they are so attractive.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Bird Nest Collage

A little collage I did over the weekend.
Quite therapeutic cutting, sticking and making lots of mess!
A little more work on the bird and a few finishing touches and it should be done.

Sssh....Deer in the Woods

I was looking for inspiration for a deer themed hoop design or collage and my Dad sent me these photos he took earlier in the year at Killerton, a National Trust property near Exeter in Devon.

Willow deer sculptures in the most enchanted setting.

I think the sculptor (http://www.woodyfoxwillow.co.uk) has captured their character extremely well and my Dad also in taking the photographs.
Hope everyone has a relatively stress-free week leading up to Christmas.
So many things to do but sometimes it's important to stop and enjoy the simple things in life.

Allotment - Butternut Squash

I went to my allotment yesterday to start tidying up.
Here are a few of my Butternut Squash stored in the shed.
This is the first year I have grown squash and I had a bumper crop. Once the skins have hardened they last for months in a cool frost free place. They taste lovely simply cut into chunks (peel first) and roasted until charred with olive oil, salt, black pepper & coriander. My vegetarian daughter also makes a lovely squash soup.

These should see me through the winter months and I shall definitely be growing them again next year.

Autumn Woodland Walk

Hi everyone.
I hope you're still out there?
I know it's been SO long since I last blogged (over a year in fact) but I have been through some major life changes and I've just started to get back to some normality again (whatever that might be).

I went on a lovely woodland walk a few weeks ago and had to share these photos of beautiful fungi I saw.
Poisonous but very beautiful!
Inspiration for another hoop embroidery maybe?

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
