Towering Hollyhocks

I had a little stroll around the allotment last week and discovered these beautiful hollyhocks.
So reminiscent of cottage gardens and they always remind me of hand embroidered linens. I'm very tempted to get my sketchbook and watercolours out or to start stitching. Very inspirational.
Grown with the roses they look magnificent.
The wooden structure at the end of the path houses our compost toilet which was officially opened last year. Quite a unique feature!
 Sweetpeas
 Wild poppies and grasses.
A display of sunny marigolds. They look so outstanding en masse.

English Lavender.
My little stroll certainly made me feel better.

  2. Hi Jacqui,

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog and for taking part in my giveaway too!

Beautiful photo's from your allotment complex! Allotment complexes in England look so different from the Dutch ones. I like it very much!

    Happy new week,

  6. Jacqui: It's me again on another post I missed of yours, Thank you for your kind words about the baby birds, they must be doing fine now. Your allotment flowers are just beautiful. I especially love hollyhocks and mine did not do well this year, they set the buds and then just turned brown and dry. Asked at the nursery and think they weren't getting enough water. Those beautiful mystery plant (we think some kind of summer phlox) just get so big and choke the water off from everything else. Hope you are doing well and enjoying those beautiful gardens..Happy Wednesday..Judy

  7. All of the flowers are just gorgeous! How wonderful that you have a composting toilet! A couple of years ago my daughter spend several weeks of the summer, doing a class, on a sustainable farm in W.V., and they had a compostable toilet there. It was such a fantastic experience for her, and changed forever her ideas about how to do a lot of things. (Ours too.)

  8. It has taken me far too long to get over here. I am in embroidery heaven. Spent the better part of the afternoon looking for a hollyhock embroidery pattern, because I just don't have enough? You have such a wonderful place to be. Glad I am now in your loop...smiles...Renee
